296.6 lbs to 260.2 lbs
Started my health journey September 12, 2020 with SSY Boot camp season 6. My starting weight was 296.6 lbs the heaviest I’ve been and I tell you it’s not pretty. I’ve struggle with pain and just finding that perfect outfit to wear. With the support of my husband and kids, I started melting off the extra weight I’ve been carrying for so long. My goal weight is 150 lbs and I will continue the SSY way until I get there. My WHY is my family and my super WHY is myself. In order for me to take care of my family, I have to take care of myself first so I will strive until I achieve. And remember, it’s the FOOD, it’s the FOOD, it’s the FOOD. Eat more plants. I’m slimmer, I’m stronger and I’m sexier.

Glory to God in the highest. Amen. Early Merry Christmas to myself! Season 7 for SSY done & dusted! For how many years, I’ve struggled with my weight. I’ve tried diet and other weight loss programs but nothing has changed! This year 2020 is a horrible year ever, COVID-19 has ruined plans with my loved ones! But I’m grateful for this year 2020, that I realized to love myself first. I started my journey with Herbalife since last year October 2019, then I fell off the wagon when I came back home in January 2020 and left baby. with my parents in Anchorage, AK. I was emotionally depressed and I let go of myself, I didn’t care what I eat and binge drinking almost every weekend! June 2020 I started back on Herbalife, it’s a nutritional program and I told myself I need to workout so I joined SPW sessions in the evening! 1 wk later one of my fellow nurses asked me to join SSY with her, “noooo, why” and she told me “pls I need a partner”

The best gift i gave myself this year was joining SSY. Sure there were many cheat days, cheat meals, cheat so’o, but it’s a learning process. And I believe transparency is key. So not close to where I’d like to be, but this is for no one but myself.

220 lbs to 188 lbs
My decision to seriously take this journey was initially about getting into my uniforms with ease and not passing out bending down to tie my shoes. I hated the feeling of gasping for air every time I climbed in the car with my uniform tightening at the waist and squeezing every inch of my body into cramps. And I hated hearing the sound of my own heavy breathing and catching my breath all the time after walking a short distance from room to room in my house. All the things I hated were starting to play a familiar song in my head and I needed to deal with it head on hence my journey to a healthier and happier me. No one else was gonna do it for me, so here I am today.
From 220 to 188, I’m not where I want to be, but I’m certainly not where I used to be, and I’m definitely where I should be at the moment. I can’t remember the last time I weighed under 200 and it’s an amazing feeling. I’ve had to alter all my uniforms and I can get into them with ease, no more gasping for air. I have learned a lot during this journey as I said initially it was about so many things I hated about myself but as I’ve learned from joining SSY, it’s about progression and not perfection. It’s all about mindset. And we all should already know it’s the food, it’s the food, it’s the food!!!

my first boot camp was tough. The second I accepted the concept of food being the biggest part (80% food 20% exercise, still a work in progress), the third I strengthened my bonds with Team Red as we all were in it together. my fourth one embraced the team challenges. And my fifth one I saw the growth of this movement. I cannot wait to see what boot camp #6 is going to be like. Am excited and ready to take it on! Getting stronger mentally and physically every time!

I won’t say too much as I know some of you are tired of my yoyo diet stories. However, I will say that SSY works!
When i first signed up for SSY 2 sessions ago, months ago, I had several obstacles that interfered with accomplishing my goal I had set in the beginning of 2020. i wasn’t able to complete either sessions because of this. 3 sessions later and I still had the same goal in mind and was definite i was going to achieve it because if you know me, I DON’T QUIT! SSY is a tight knitted family. We share our goals, we share our failures and we move forward! It’s the SSY way! This is a lifestyle my family and I have adopted together and it is by far the greatest investment we have put forth for our health. 12 lbs, 2 inches and 1 size down in 6 weeks. I’m telling you, guys! It works! 80% MINDSET! And that works for me! I still have a long way to go, but this progress right here? Is progress! I can celebrate! I hop out of bed every morning and I feel good! Feels so damn good! This is my story, And I promise you, if it works for me, It’ll definitely work for you!

Six weeks of grueling grinding has paid off. When I fell short, steadfast prayer, fasting, and my SUPER WHY got me through it. And no, the puppy was not on the scale with me!

The journey to weight loss started with Tofa Fuatagavi Lofi offering and registering a few members of our family on the SSY (Slimmer Stronger You) 6 weeks Weight Loss Bootcamp. I never would have imagined to have lost 51 lbs in six weeks! I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity that has been given to make a healthier change in life for my future and for my family.

It was since the day I was diagnosed with RHD that I started to gain weight. Food was life that I realized I couldn’t go a day without eating. Encounter some difficulties with my health hoping it’ll get better in due time. Days went by, still no sign so I decided to make a change. Joined SSY Season 7 for the first time & it was quite a journey. It was all about dedication, commitment, and believing in yourself.

It was my niece that motivated me to join SSY after seeing her progress. So I signed up for season 6. That first week for me was.. OMG! I thought about quitting several times. This is now my second season completed! And that is a personal WIN, especially for someone who always starts off great but, never quite commits all the way through to the end. Every morning my alarm would go off, I’d lie there for a few seconds, and by seconds, I mean minutes, there would be a tiny voice in the back of my head telling me to just go back to sleep. But then! I’d snap back and remember what I promised myself. And that was to start treating myself, my body, my health better. Walking in to bc each morning and seeing everyone on the same journey to their slimmer, stronger selves, inspires me to keep pressing on. There are, and always will be, bumps along the way, but I am learning, growing, and progressing. 100% mindset, right?

Started my health journey with SSY from 219 lbs to 187 lbs. It was hard but definitely worth it. Losing weight is about making changes to your lifestyle, it’s all about empowering ourselves to take control of our own health and make constructive changes. Everyone’s health journey is unique and different. Along my own journey, there are some things that I wanted to share to help you on your own. Trust me, it works! It’s a process. Taking control of your own health is a process that will take time. There will be ups and downs, you’ll probably take a few steps back and have days when you feel down, but hey, it’s called a journey! Having a team is everything. Having a team behind you is one of the most powerful influences in keeping you accountable and on the right track. When you’re feeling down or less than enthusiastic, these will be the people who motivate and inspire you to carry on. Self-care is at the heart of a health journey.

I have been struggling with my weight since I was in College. I was embarassed to even step in a gym because of the fear of being judged by people when they see how heavy I was. It was no joke that I have been sitting in the 300s for the last 15 years of my young life. I was able to drop to 280’s in 2005 but it all came back after I had my 3 younger children. I thought it is ok because I just had a child but I was surprise that I was breaking the 350’s with my youngest child. I was influenced by one of the nurses in our department to join SSY. I started with SSY in Sept 2020, Season 6. Exercising with a large group of people was like a taboo for me. The fear of being judged by others lingers in my mind. Remembering Coach’s words during the orientation: ” JUst do your exercise, don’t worry about others. Everyone is concentrating on themselves not on you.” That helped me build the confidence with the program. I started Season 6 at 318# and ended Season 7 at 260#. I am 58 pounds lighter and I do feel slimmer and stronger. I won’t ask for anything better this Christmas but a slimmer, stronger and healthier Me!

I first heard of SSY when my sister started her weight loss journey in 2017. She never failed to encourage me to join and to cut my bad eating habits (By the way she looks absolutely amazing). So of course I came up with all these lame excuses like, “I don’t have time” “My work schedule makes it difficult to join” “I love food so much” or the worse one “It’s too late now” Then at work, our nursing in service coordinator and best coach ever (she made me tag at her lol) started motivating more and more of my nursing sisters to join. At this point I was gaining and eating more than ever. I was at my absolute heaviest and unhealthiest shape. 292 pounds. If you know my dad then you’ll know he has a wicked sense of humor. Kama ga e kasi se kala ae kua po mai ai a ou foren sili ai laka alu puga le sami. He would look at me and say, “sole olakaga ga la e lapokopoko pei se gēgē” (I was round like a white pig) like wow ga misa kaua li dadt? my nursing scrubs were tight on me and some didn’t fit anymore. Heck, I was wearing my mom’s mu’mu’us. People were always asking me if I was pregnant. I was always tired and sleepy. YET still in my mind I swear I still looked good. Kua too shua a le aunts my Shane intervened and forcibly signed me up with Sandra to get in to SSY. Ua iloa si kamaloa ua makaukia le level o le ga’o meaai ma le fat ass lea ua I ai. Faapea Shane oh hell no e lē koe magao se au ia ao pe a e lapo’a faapega (aua T). As pissed off as I was I knew he was right and he meant it in the best way and it’s cause he loved me (trust lol). I joined SSY last month and completed my first bootcamp last week. It’s been an amazing experiemce. I now weigh 229 pounds and it feels great.

The journey was hard but worth every sweat I sweated. I didn’t think I would lose the weight but I did it. Yes I can and I am thankful Lord I did it. Slowly and surely going to shred off the pounds to my set weight. Best Christmas gift to myself is changing my mindset to losing weight and living healthy for life. Here I come to a better, stronger, healthy me in 2021. I am a champion all the way.

2020 I would say is a year unlike anything we have ever experienced. That being said what better way of ending such a challenging year then on a high note by joining Slimmer Stronger You. Not going lie I was not sure if this was a program worth joining but I knew I had to join because the doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and my cholesterol was really bad. Mind you this is not including physical injuries I’ve obtained over the years. The doctors diagnosis put me in a bit of depression knowing that I was unhealthy. I was mad at myself for two things: one for letting my health get to this point and two for also being a bad example to my Fiancé. She is one of my biggest suporters even when it comes to eating too. God knows I don’t want her to end up having health problems like me. I love her too much. So with a leap of faith my beautiful fiancé and I joined SSY and got the discount. We both came in at a combine weight of a WWE tag team 505 pounds lol! and finished the camo weighing at a combine weight of 470 pounds. For our first ever boot camp we lost a noticeable amount of weight all thanks to SSY! Coach Will and SSY staff you guys rock! And not only did my fiancé and I lose weight but we learned to be more confident and believe in ourselves that we can overcome our addiction to food. But more importantly to be healthy enough to help others who struggle with their weight. We both love how inspiring everyone is at SSY and especially feeling a lot of love and support from our peers.

SSY Season 7 Finisto!
In 10 months, I’ve dropped more than 60 pounds. My energy level and stamina skyrocketed. I’ve gone from a size 26 down to a size 16-18 pants. I was wearing a size 3xl in tops\shirts and now wearing a size large.
Love yourself, your body can do amazing things. And it will! See the power and beauty you have inside yourself and you’ll see that you can accomplish anything! Enjoy being you and don’t let anyone get in the way of your HAPPINESS!
So INVEST in yourself, becaue the 45 minutes a day I invested in myself has led me to this happy and more confident mom I am today!

As we come to the end of SSY Season 7 bootcamp this week, I would love to look back how far I have struggled. So grateful for the results and progress I’ve made since the beginning of this SSY journey, as well as the help of ZUMBA and other workout programs I have participated since the beginning of this year. Hot Hula, Taebo and Saula gym. A photo taken last year from our SOFIAS Christmas Caroling (before) and After.
We can all make a difference if we choose to change our mind. I pray the Lord will help me continue this great journey PLEASE leai se koe fo’i e faia.
This Christmas all I want is, more workout sessions and rest. The greates gift is being alive, happy and healthy.

MINDSET FOR SURE! It hasn’t been the easiest journey thus far. But so worth it! Just realizing how far I’ve come. I’ve never ever in my life really cared, to care about what the scale & doctor’s said until my last visit to the ER had me in the “URGENT!” state of my health. Yet, had no clue how to get started. “Again!” 4 yrs back I was part of an amazing group called “Olamalosi”. Who has part in my journey. I’ll always be thankful for them. But once again, I put my health off and thought I’ll get back once the kids are older. Nope! Downhill went my health. My mom “voluntold” me & signed me up for season 5 bootcamp SSY. Thankful for her. Since then I have been amazed at my results. Slowly but surely. Tried out taebo for the first time ever.

OUR PRAYER IS THAT WE ENCOURAGE YOU AND INSPIRE YOU. The pictures are to hold us accountable so that we don’t return to our old selves again. One of the best things that happened to us while being here in American Samoa for the last 17 months due to travel restrictions is that we took command of our health again. WE STILL HAVE A LONG LONG WAY TO GO but I tell you, we feel much better and so energized and excited to tackle the next chapter of our lives.
IT’S THE FOOD! IT’S THE FOOD! IT’S THE FOOD!
With just a few adjustments and consistency, Debbie and I together have lost almost 100 pounds combined. Consistency is the key. Doing it TOGETHER makes the challenge more manageable. As ministers, we will continue to preach the good news of Jesus Christ but we also want to join in on the campaign of seeing a healthier American Samoa. Sadly, our territory rates among the top 10 obese nations in the world with the islands of the South Pacific also part of the top 10. With so many Polynesians dying young and way before their time, we’ve got to do something! There are so many exercise groups that meet daily. Find what works for you and stick with it. Learn the importance of nutrition. Get a Coach.

In Samoa, I was my heaviest at 163 lbs. I didn’t feel good about myself and I didn’t like taking pictures at the time. I decided to do something about it and joined SSY (Slimmer Stronger You Fitness Center) I mainly did it for my health. I was able to lose 18 lbs with SSY in 6 weeks. I was down to 145 lbs and was still considered overweight for my height. I continued with my journey & lost another 12 lbs bringing me down to 133 lbs. Took a lot for me to change things for the betterment of my health. I used to NEVER drink water and couldn’t go a day without rice! It’s been 7 months now I haven’t ate rice and been drinking water more than I have my entire life. I’m still nowhere near where I want to be. I’m still a work in progress, but I got this. If you’re thinking of doing something with your health and weightloss journey, it’s never too late! Let’s get it!

It is an amazing journey so far for me. I could never stop talking and sharing with families and friends about the positive results I got after joining SSY in September 2020. It is a lifestyle change choice that I made for a healthier me. I first and foremost thanks our Heavenly father for giving me strength to endure it all.
